Pokémon

Pokémon is a media franchise created by Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori, managed by The Pokémon Company, which is a collaboration among Nintendo, Game Freak, and Creatures. The term “Pokémon” is derived from the Japanese brand name “Pocket Monsters” (ポケットモンスター), referring to the fictional creatures that players, known as Pokémon Trainers, catch and train to battle each other. The franchise includes video games, trading card games, animated television series, movies, merchandise, and more. Each Pokémon species has unique abilities, types, and characteristics, and they can evolve into more powerful forms. The primary aim of players in the Pokémon video games is to become a Pokémon Champion by battling other trainers and completing their Pokédex, an in-game encyclopedia of Pokémon species. The franchise promotes themes of friendship, adventure, and competition.
