Rugby

Rugby is a team sport that originated in England in the early 19th century. It is played with an oval-shaped ball on a rectangular field, typically in two main forms: Rugby Union and Rugby League. In Rugby, two teams, usually consisting of 15 players in Rugby Union and 13 players in Rugby League, compete to score points by carrying, passing, or kicking the ball to reach the opponent’s goal area or by kicking it through goalposts. Players can advance the ball by running with it or by passing it laterally or backward to teammates.

The game is characterized by physical contact, strategic play, and an emphasis on teamwork. Matches consist of two halves, and the team with the most points at the end wins. Rugby is known for its adherence to the ” rugby values” of integrity, respect, solidarity, passion, and discipline. It is played globally and boasts significant international competitions, including the Rugby World Cup. Rugby’s rich traditions and sportsmanship contribute to its status as a highly respected sport.
